Phillies Ups and Downs

Friday(4/5/13)
The Phillies jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead against the Kansas City Royals in the home opener. The lead didn't last long. The Royals scored 13 unanswered runs to close the game with a final score of
13-4.

Saturday(4/6/13)
night Phils fans headed for the exits because it seemed like another Royals victory was approaching. However, the Phils managed to load the bases and with 2 outs pinch hitter Kevin Frandsen stepped up to the plate. First pitch swinging he drilled the ball all the way to the right center wall! It was a bases clearing, walk off double as the Phillies celbrated their 4-3 walk-off victory.

Sunday(4/7/13)
Phillies fans enjoyed themselves for a few innings just as they had on Friday, celebrating a quick 4-0 lead againts the Royals. Here we go again, the Royals rallied and were able to manufactuer 9 unasnwered runs heading to the bottom of the 9th inning, 9-4. The Phillies were able to put together a rally of their own as J-Roll stepped up big by homering to deep right field. Down one with men on second and third, Eric Kratz stepped up the the plate. Kratz was able to lengthen the at-bat by fouling of 8 pitches. Unfortunetly he swung and missed at a breaking ball for strike three. The Phillies lost by just one run; 9-8. Now they move on to a three game home series against the New York Mets.
